I didn’t expect this to be so hard

I didn't expect this to be so hard. Sometimes letting go isn’t about clutter—it’s about identity.
Hi beautiful friend,
This week, I froze in my office.
Not because I didn’t know what to do… but because I knew exactly what I should do—and didn’t want to.
Dylan was napping.
The house was quiet.
And I was standing there in my office, staring at my theatre books. 🎭
My beloved Tennessee Williams. Chekhov. Shakespeare.
Books that carried me through my years as an actor. Books that gave me confidence, a voice, and a deeper understanding of myself in ways I didn’t even know I needed at the time.
And there I was… stuck.
Because if you follow a lot of organizing advice these days, the message is loud and clear:
→ Only keep what serves the person you are now. → Only keep what supports the life you’re building. The life you envision or that God is calling you to. → Let go of the past.
But sitting there, staring at those books, I couldn’t help but think…
But what about the things that helped make you who you are today?
What about the items that shaped you… strengthened you… and guided you to the life you’re living now?
I'm no longer an actor.
And truthfully, I don’t want to go back to the struggling actor days. I love my business. I love my family. I love this life God has given me.
But those playwrights? They were part of my becoming.
And suddenly, this wasn’t about books anymore.
It was about identity. Memories. Gratitude. Fear of letting go. Fear of dishonoring the past.
And that’s the part of decluttering that most people don’t talk about.
Not the bins. Not the labels. Not the color-coded closets.
The emotions.
The thoughts that swirl in your mind when you're holding something meaningful and wondering…
"What happens if I let this go?"
That moment standing in my office is exactly why I invited Glennda Donate, Master Certified Life Coach to join me this Saturday.
Because she brings a depth to this conversation that goes far beyond “just get rid of it.”
She helps unpack the thoughts behind the stuff. The emotions behind the hesitation. The patterns that keep us stuck—even when we want change.
When Glennda and I met to go over the outline for this workshop, I got goosebumps.
Not kidding.
Because this conversation isn’t just about decluttering your home…
It’s about understanding why letting go can feel so hard —and why, on the flip side, releasing the right things for the right reasons can be incredibly healing for your brain, your emotions, and even your body.
Originally, this workshop was only for my Book Launch Team…
