🎁 The holiday clutter question no one wants to say out loud

Hi beautiful friend,

I'm still on a high after my new book reached the #1 slot on 11-12-25 on Amazon in the Christian Self-help category!!!

It was so unexpected and thrilling! Thank you all for your love and support.

I also recorded a podcast too (coming out next year) and have several in the cue. Good stuff is happening!

But what you really want to know, though, is how to better organize and get ready for the holidays.

Every year around this time, I see the same thing happen inside my own home and my clients' homes:

You start pulling out the holiday bins… and immediately feel a little overwhelmed, a little guilty, and a little confused about why or how you own so much holiday decor, and what to do with it all.

"Will I use every holiday decor item?" "Where will it go?" "Will I get it all up in time?"

Let's chat about two things today that no one tells you before the holiday season hits:

  1. What to do with last year’s decor you don’t even like anymore
  2. How to set up a wrapping system that doesn’t explode all over your house and if it does (because, let's be honest, I do love a room full of Christmas paper and bows everywhere) how to put it back quickly and stay sane.

Because the truth is, most of us are carrying emotional and physical clutter into a season that’s supposed to be about peace.

And you deserve better than that.

Let’s take a deep breath...

and talk solutions.

Question 1

“What do I do with last year’s decor I don’t love anymore but feel guilty donating?”

Here’s the hard truth we avoid:

Keeping something you don’t love isn’t honoring the item.
It’s just postponing the decision.

That guilt you feel?
It’s almost never about the wreath or the garland or the ornaments.
It’s usually about the money you spent, the memory attached, or the pressure to keep using something “because it still works.”

But here’s the belief shift that changes everything:

You’re allowed to curate beauty that reflects your life right now.

Here’s what to do:

1. Pull everything out and get honest.
There are two piles:
• Used and loved
• Didn’t use and don’t love
If it didn’t make the cut this year, it won’t next year either.

2. Bless it forward.
Someone else could love and use that décor TODAY.
You’re not wasting it. You’re releasing it.

Deep Dive: Join your local Buy Nothing group and give away there! Someone will literally come get it, TODAY.

3. Take a photo of sentimental pieces.
Keep the memory. Let go of the guilt.

Deep Dive: If you find that frequently you get tripped up with organizing because you have a lot of sentimental items with family stories, look into using an app called Artifcts. (Not a paid endorsement!) The app allows you to take a pic of the item + include the story behind + share with family.

4. Limit yourself to a set number of bins.
One bin of décor you actually love is more peaceful than three bins of “maybes.” Let's be real here, you've got 10 - 15 bins, I know, because I used to have that too. Now I have about 6 - 8 Christmas holiday decor. I've culled and curated each bin over the years and each box is full of joyous memories and beautiful decor.

Deep Dive: Tired of your old, ugly bins? Get new ones this year! Go to Walmart* or Home Depot or Target. I would opt for plastic bins and not the cheap fabric ones as they are not sturdy enough for long term stacking year after year.

(I do get a teeny tiny commission from Walmart as an affiliate.)

5. Give yourself permission to evolve.
Your taste changes. Your home changes.
Your décor is allowed to change too.

Deep Dive: Take 5 - 10 minutes and scroll Pinterest for fun ideas + follow me for more inspiration! You might discover you have a new style this year.

A peaceful home comes from choosing intentionally.
Not from keeping everything “just in case.”

Question 2

“How do I organize wrapping paper, ribbons, tags, and gift bags so it’s not a disaster again this year?”

This question was inspired by my friend Jen, amazing mom and real estate agent. She generously opened her home up this week for our women's boss lady meeting and I stayed after to help her build her wrapping paper rolling cart. That's my secret love language! Building organizing solutions. LOL.

Every home I’ve ever organized has a wrapping situation that’s either:

• buried
• bursting
• or spread across 14 different spaces (ribbon in the junk drawer and gift bags in the laundry room, anyone?)

Here's an idea of a fun gift wrapping system that actually works (choose the steps that make sense for you and your space):

1. Choose one Gift Wrap Zone.
One spot.
A bin, a cart, a closet, a cabinet.
When wrapping supplies live together, wrapping becomes easy.

2. Sort and contain by category.
• Wrapping paper
• Bags
• Tissue
• Ribbon
• Tags
• Tape/scissors/pen
Each one gets its own container or divider.
No more digging.

3. Store wrapping paper upright or laying flat gently in it's own bin not squished by tape and scissors.
A tall basket or bin keeps everything neat and visible.

4. File gift bags vertically.
Organize by size and stand them upright in a narrow bin.
This is life-changing.

5. Create a mini wrapping caddy.
Tape, scissors, pen, tags, ribbon.
Small enough to carry around the house.
Big enough to save you 10 trips back and forth.

6. Reset it at the end of the season.
Toss crushed bags.
Roll ribbons.
Donate leftovers you won’t use. (Local teachers can use in kids crafts.)
Future you will thank present you.

The goal isn’t perfection.
It’s ease.
It’s clarity.
It’s being able to find tape without muttering under your breath or yelling out your spouse.

A gentle reminder as we head into the holidays:

Although I do love me some beautiful organizing bins and fresh holiday decor, you actually don’t need more bins, more décor, or more stuff to make this season beautiful.

You need clarity, intention, and systems that support who you are right now.

Because of helping my awesome current clients, my new little cutie + Jon's back surgery recovery, I have limited in-person openings available to help you get ready for the holidays this year, but you can grab a copy of my book for step by step how to's, motivation and inspiration to get you through!
